Linnie Carl

Linnie Carl of Portland, Oregon served as the Field Secretary of the Young People’s Branch and as a National Lecturer for the WCTU. Carl was a temperance lecturer and dramatic reader who performed in schools and colleges and at public meetings across the country. The WCTU distributed leaflets that advertised Carl’s talents, featuring testimonials from local religious leaders and WCTU officers as well as newspaper reviews from the West and Midwest. According to these promotional materials, children called her the “funny lady.”
