Advertisement for Elocution Schools

Enclosed in all of the medal contest reciters were advertisements for elocution schools in the Chicago area. The Columbia College of Expression and Physical Culture in Chicago was founded by Mary A. Blood, a member of the WCTU, and the WCTU officially endorsed the School’s elocutionary training. Other Chicago-area institutions featured were the Century School of Music and Oratory, the Chicago School of Physical Education and Expression, the Balatka Musical College, the Soper School of Oratory, and the American Conservatory. Many of these schools offered special discounts for WCTU members.
